Friday, April 5, 2024, Pathways to Healthy Sexuality Workbook Training
CEUs: 4 hours offender, 2 hours victim, and 1 hour ethics

The Pathways Workbook is a traditional offense-specific treatment for adults and older teenagers who sexually abuse. Like other offense-specific treatment workbooks, the Pathways Workbook asks clients to take an in-depth look at their sexual offense, so they can take responsibility for their sexual offense and their choices and actions leading up to their sexual offense. Clients are ushered through therapeutic experiences so that they can identify the steps of their offense cycle and learn to exit their offense cycle at any step. Victim empathy lessons are taught as experience shows an appreciation of the harm of sexual offending is a good roadblock to reoffense. Of course, there are traditional relapse prevention and aftercare exercises. Cost is $100.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To teach treatment concepts such as thinking errors, definitions of deviant and healthy sex, offense cycle, and double life.
  2. To teach cognitive behavioral treatment techniques such as thought journal, triple column technique, ACE Self-Control Techniques, Why Sandwich, ABCDEs of human behavior patterns, victim empathy exercise, and relapse prevention exercises.
  3. To teach parameters of sexual offender treatment such as the behavior contract, treatment guidelines, and containment model.
  4. To teach participants how to develop a support group for the client.
  5. To teach how participants can instruct clients on healthy sexuality including courtship, self-soothing, self-confrontation, sexual prime, eyes open kissing and foreplay, sexual fantasies, and sizzling sex.

Saturday, April 6, 2024, Good Life Workbook Training
CEUs: 6 hours offender and 1 hour ethics

Martin Seligman is the creator of the field of positive psychology, which is the psychology of what makes life worth living. His early work on authentic happiness eventually gave way to his more recent concept of psychological well-being, which is comprised of PERMA: positive emotions, engagement, positive relationships, meaning, and achievement. The Good Life Workbook is used in conjunction with the Pathways Workbook to create a more powerful and lasting treatment impact than offense-specific treatment alone can give. The men and some of the therapists using this workbook have often said, “I wish I would have learned this when I was growing up. I would have had a different life.” Cost is $100.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To teach about emotional reflexes, basic emotions, social emotions, moods, sentiments, and temperament, and how to express emotions healthily.
  2. To teach positive psychology principles of authentic happiness, gratitude, psychological well-being, and PERMA.
  3. To teach about the virtue and ethics underlying a Good Life.
  4. To teach about Kahneman’s dual process theory and how it relates to intuition, heuristics, schemas, and other modes of thinking.
  5. To teach about M. Scott Peck’s principles of romantic love, true love, dependency, and happiness.
  6. To teach John Gottman’s empirical basis for successful, longlisting intimate relationships.
  7. To teach the self-management skills of mindfulness, self-kindness, delay of gratification, dedication to that truth, surrender, moderation, collaboration, conflict managing, and being proactive.
  8. To teach about habits, habit seeds, the habit path, cravings, and habit management.
